*Because making a silk purse out of a sow's ear is what I do!
Darcie Benton was a little girl from Elwood, Iowa. We didn't have everything we wanted in the 70's like kids do today. My Barbie Dream House was made out of a cardboard box. My Barbie Swimming pool was made out of an old dresser drawer and was lined with an old swimming pool raft. (confession: I'm not sure how old they were, really. I may have actually gotten in trouble from my mom for wrecking her stuff). I was in the Elwood Cheerios 4-H club and learned to sew and cook and set a table properly. I did not partake in showing livestock, but I wish I could have.
I love to go Estate Sale-ing. I pass by the expensive, fussy antiques and go searching for the cast-off piece of crap that no one else wants. Once I stayed so long at an estate auction that I actually had to rent a U-Haul to get all my stuff home. It was AWESOME! Have transformed a so many ugly ducklings into beautiful swans.
Everything in my home has a story. I love to live surrounded by my creations. I love the history of the things in my home. I can remember almost every great Estate sale I've ever been to.
